Saber started working in CG over 15 years ago and has occupied different positions as an artist in various countries around the world.
Before creating Rebelway, Saber worked as a Generalist TD at MPC London, a Senior Lighting TD at Framestore, a Senior Technical Director at Blizzard Entertainment, and a Senior FX Artist at Barnstorm VFX, during which he received a VES and an Emmy nomination for outstanding VFX work.
COURSE BREAKDOWN
Houdini has become the go-to tool in the FX industry. Whoever wields its power is unstoppable. The only downside is Houdini can be difficult to learn and the learning curve is steep.
In this VFX course, you will learn how to create a highly realistic nuclear explosion shot and various other explosion types from beginning to end.
WEEK 1 – GETTING STARTED
This week is about getting introduced to the workflow, simulation, caching, and how everything works.
WEEK 2 – FX
This week, we’re going to start working on the scene by recreating the FX and learning the various tools needed to get the job done
WEEK 3 – DOP NETWORKS
This week, we’re going to take our sims to the next level and start working on the DOP network and setup everything needed to get the most details.
WEEK 4 – SPIKE EXPLOSION
This week, we’re going to dive further into DOPs and learn a lot of techniques that can be applied to the previous spike explosion.
WEEK 5 – VARIOUS SETUPS
This week, we’re going to continue working on the various setups that we’ve made, then add in some colors, density variation, and life variation to the spikes.
WEEK 6 – NEW UPDATES
This week, we’re going to continue learning about explosion shading using Houdini and Mantra.
WEEK 7 – ANIMATING THE EARTH
This week, we’re going to talk about Houdini18.5 and all the new features that Sidefx added related to pyro simulation.
WEEK 8 – NCLEAR EXPLOSION
This week, we will be working on the nuclear explosion shot, and we will discuss everything related to the sim, the visual building, the rbd and pretty much everything related to the shot.
WEEK 9 – NUCLEAR DETAIL
This week, we’re going to continue working on our nuclear explosion, and focus on more advanced techniques in dops, and on how to add details without having to increase the resolution.
WEEK 10 – COMPOSITING
This week, we will be working on the shading, the rendering and the compositing of the various elements.
WEEK 11 – PROBLEM SOLVING
The goal of this week is to talk about multiple small issues that we ran into, and provide solutions for them.
